Radical Poetry Reading with I.S. Jones

Queer American Nigerian poet and music journalist, I.S. Jones is a Graduate Fellow with The Watering Hole and holds fellowships from Callaloo, BOAAT Writer’s Retreat, and Brooklyn Poets. I.S. hosts a month-long workshop every April called The Singing Bullet. She is an editor at 20.35 Africa: An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry. Her works have appeared or are forthcoming in Guernica, Washington Square Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Hobart Pulp, The Rumpus, The Offing, Shade Literary Arts, and elsewhere. Her chapbook Spells Of My Name is forthcoming with Newfound in 2021.

Pakistani-American writer, editor, and educator, Sarah Ghazal Ali holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she was an MFA Fellow and Juniper Fellow. A recipient of fellowships from Five Pillars, ISF, the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, and the Seventh Wave, Sarah currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Palette Poetry. She lives in California and is drawn like a moth to all things green.

Sudanese-American poet and writer Dalia Elhassan is the author of In Half Light, a chapbook in the New-Generation African Poets Series (Sita) published in collaboration with Akashic Books and the African Poetry Book Fund. Her work is featured in a number of publications, including The Kenyon Review, The Oakland Arts Review, and Rattle #59. She is the recipient of the Hajja Razia Sharif Sheikh Prize for nonfiction and was shortlisted for the 2018 Brunel International African Poetry Prize.

The author of Enumeration (Akashic Books, 2020), part of the New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Set. Winner of the 2020 Hurston/Wright College Writers Award, Hassan has received fellowships from Hedgebrook, Mesa Refuge and VONA. Zimbabwean poet Belinda Munyeza’s writing has appeared in VS the Podcast, Pidgeonholes, Twin Pies Literary, and elsewhere. Belinda also writes fiction and nonfiction stories, articles, and web content. They have been published on sites such as weREWILD. Belinda currently lives in Navarra, Spain. They are getting her BSc in Biochemistry & Business from the University of Navarra and is working on her first poetry chapbook.
